We seek to create a residence that is home-like, integrated into the community, sustainable to maintain and operate, while taking advantage of its beautiful location on Southern Harbor to develop community integrated prorgramming in support of the unique interest of the residents. The dedicated staff at Southern Harbor House continue to refine and incorporate local oppotunites to make the services and oportunities we offer dynamic. Meet the Team!

Southern Harbor House Staff

  1. Lindsey Beverage, Administrator
    Managing Director
    Lindsey is a lifelong island resident, with extensive family ties. She and her husband Corey have three children. Lindsey worked as the Outreach Worker for a period of 10 years, a position that primarily supports elders who need assistance with activities of daily living. Lindsey graduated from the University of Maine at Farmington with a Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Services and is a licensed Residential Care Facility Administrator. Lindsey obtained her Personal Support Specialist (PSS) certificate in 2015, her Certified Residential Medication Aide (CRMA) certificate, as well as a Long-Term Care Administration certificate from Saint Joseph's College in 2018. Lindsey enjoys spending time with her children and is happiest playing in the snow.
  2. Kylie Curtis, Resident Care Coordinator
    Managing Director
    Kylie has lived on North Haven for the past five years. Kylie has had over ten (10) years of experience in the social service field, serving a range of populations including elders and adults with developmental disabilities. Kylie is an active EMT on the island, recently received her PSS and CRMA certificate in 2017. She holds a Bachelor of Art in Sociology from Arizona State University. Kylie enjoys gardening, taking her dog Naeco for walks, and keeping up with current events.
  3. Bookkeeper
    Managing Director
    Alicia Brown currently works at the North Haven Medical Clinic as the receptionist and seasonally at North Haven Brewing Co. In the past, she has volunteered for the North Haven Fire Department and North Haven EMS. Recently she has started a small business out of her home, baking. Her specialty is custom cake design. When Alicia isn't busy at work, she enjoys spending time with her fiance, their dog Willie and her nieces and nephews.

Board of Directors

  1. Douglas Record, Vice President/ Treasurer
    Managing Director
    After graduating with a degree in Forest Management from UMaine at Orono, Doug worked for 20 years as a forester for paper and timber management companies. The past 16 years Doug has resided on North Haven working as a caretaker, operating a small farm, and being a beekeeper.   Doug currently serves on the boards of the North Haven Historical Society, Southern Harbor Eldercare Services, as well as the Town of North Haven Planning Board. He is also a member of the town’s Solid Waste Committee and the North Haven Grange.  Doug has have lived in Maine his entire life.
  2. Lisa Shields, Secretary
    Managing Director
    Lisa has lived on North Haven for over 45 years, and has been an active community member. She was Community Services Director for the Island Institute, and was formerly the Arts and Enrichment Coordinator for North Haven Community School. Lisa is currently working as a realtor with Davidson Realty. In addition to the Southern Harbor Eldercare Services board, she currently serves on the Ferry Services Advisory Board, Waterman’s Community Center Programs Board, North Haven Baptist Church Business Committee, and is a bi-monthly columnist for the North Haven News.
  3. Susan Ferra
    Managing Director
    Sue Ferra has a Master's Degree in Nursing and has been a RN since 1999 and a Family Nurse Practitioner since 2005. She has practiced in the community of North Haven at the Medical Clinic since 2012. She also volunteers at the Knox County Health Clinic which serves uninsured and underinsured patients, as well as volunteers for Trekkers, a program that connects youth and adults through experiential based learning expeditions.
  4. Kathi Lovell, President
    Managing Director
    Kathi Lovell is a retired elementary teacher having taught for 39 years, including 25 on North Haven. She is a First Responder with North Haven EMS and sits on several other community boards including the Pulpit Harbor Foundation, as well as working as relief staff at the island's medical Clinic. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her children and grandchildren, kayaking, gardening and traveling.
  1. Foy E. Brown
    Managing Director
    A lifelong North Haven resident, Foy spends most his days on, in, or around the ocean. He is a fifth generation to work at his family's boatyard, J.O. Brown and Son. In addition, he is a certified diver, licensed captain, and part time lobsterman. On the island, Foy serves on the North Haven Fire Dept. and volunteers as the PeeWee basketball coach.
  1. Dave Macy
    Managing Director
    Dave Macy has been the Pastor of North Haven Baptist Church since 1991. He has worked on numerous nonprofit boards and the Town's Medical Services Board. Currently he serves as President of the nonprofit Pulpit Harbor Foundation and as a member of the Southern Harbor Eldercare Services board. He is a driver and chaplain for the North Haven EMS Crew, volunteers at North Haven Community School, and participates in local theater productions, both onstage and off.
  2. Wendy Cooper
    Managing Director
    Wendy was born and raised on North Haven Island. She is one of eleven children, most of whom are still on the island. She is a proud mother of one son, who is currently serving in the Air Force. She teaches at the island preschool, serving children ages 3 -5 years old. She enjoys her island life by gardening, spending time with her family and friends, and teaching at Waterman's Laugh and Learn Pre-school.
  3. Robert Jenkens
    Managing Director
    Robert Jenkens is Director of Social Impact Initiatives at the National Cooperative Bank (NCB). At NCB, Robert works to develop financing approaches to facilitate the replication of new models of health care, long-term care, and community development. Prior to NCB, Robert directed the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation funded Coming Home and Green House Projects. Robert's career has focused on policy and practice innovations supporting the development and rapid replication of institutional alternatives for people with low-incomes. Robert is a graduate of The Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Cornell University. Robert serves on the board of The Center for Excellence in Assisted Living and Southern Harbor Eldercare Services.
  4. Holly Ambler
    Managing Director
    Holly Ambler is a life-long summer resident on Vinalhaven. She resides primarily in Cambridge MA where she works as a child and family social worker, supporting children and families both in the Boston Public Schools and through a community mental health center. Holly also serves as on Overseer at the Epiphany School in Dorchester MA, a school serving economically disadvantaged children in Boston, and is on the Board of Directors for Fox Island Concerts. Holly is a graduate of Wesleyan University and the Simmons College School of Social Work.
